Wrigley
by Winterprinz out of our Elite GOV mare Rubicon. This photo was taken at 13 months. Clearly he did not get the memo that yearlings are supposed to be ugly! Nancy Burba is the proud new owner of this handsome young man!

Vicky's keen interest in bloodlines developed over years of studying and riding those lines. Starting dozens of young horses for a number of breeding farms increased that interest as the inherent temperament and ridden qualities of mares and sires presented themselves in these youngsters over and over again. Vicky finds genetics fascinating, finding there are no guarantees, only calculated and educated guesses. One of the most important things she has learned is to never underestimate the value of the mare."When we decided to start a breeding program, the decision was made to buy the absolute best lines we could afford." says Vicky "We wanted variety in each mare type. Lines with high rideability and impeccable temperaments were the main priority."

The first pick was one for the future. In December 2006, 9 month old Electra was bought almost entirely on the quality of her lines. She is though, an incredibly beautiful individual. She is possessed of a super temperament and is a wonderful mover, but it’s her bloodlines that are the most exciting. She is  an imported Premium awarded German Oldenburg Verband filly. Electra comes from a very strong Oldenburg line. She is one of the last fillies born from the Westphalen stallion Fuerst Heinrich who died far too young at 7 years old, but not before making a huge impact in the Dressage world as he was wildly popular in Germany and considered to be one of the most promising young breeding stallions at that time. He was a Florestan/Donnerhall son and the winner of the 2003 World Young Horse Dressage Championship. Electra’s dam line is just as impressive. Her damsire is Rohdiamant, arguably Rubinstein’s most successful and prolific son. Also on her dam line is the legendary Oldenburg Stallion, Figaro who was a lifetime legend in the Oldenburg breed. He produced multiple Bundeschampionate winners and was particularly well known for siring high rideability. Electra was shown in-hand for the first time at a USDF breed show in March 2008, where she was awarded Champion Filly. Her score earned her an invitation to the GAIG/USDF Breeders' Championship Southern Series Final. In the Spring of 2009, Electra was bred as a 3 year old to Fuerst Piccolo (Fidermark/Mephistopheles/Rembrandt) and produced a gorgeous 2010 colt named Fenway. She was started under saddle in the Summer of 2009 and, as expected, is a dream to ride.  For 2012, Electra is bred to Belissimo M, a truly exciting stallion in Germany producing amazing foals.

The second addition to Busch Sporthorses breed stock is from the otherside of the spectrum – the proven broodmare. And proven she is, as it is all she has ever done. Born in 1995, Nea Antalya is a Pemium Oldenburg Verband mare. She comes from the noble “Nea” dam line that can be traced to the 1800’s !This exceptional line is one of the most admired in the Oldenburg region. Nea’s sire is the famous Hanoverian stallion, Alabaster. He is known for siring exceptional beauty and type with particularly lovely front ends. Nea’s dam sire is the immortal broodmare sire, Pik Bube I. Also on her dam line is the inimitable Furioso II. But Nea’s most impressive statistic is her foals. She has had 9 to date. The first 4 by Donnerhall, were born in Germany. Her two Donnerhall daughters were both awarded States Premium status and are successful producers themselves. Two of her Donnerhall sons have gone on to successful Dressage careers in Italy and Sweden.Upon being imported to the US,she produced a lovely daughter by Fuerst Heinrich, a son by Argentinus and her 2007 daughter (pictured at the bottom of this page) was another impressive offering by Sandro Hit. Nea gave us a gorgeous Ehrentusch colt named Endal on April 22, 2009. Then on May 4, 2010, she had a stunning Florestan filly. Her name is Fashionista and she is an exciting addition to the future of our breeding program. Nea has been bred to Hassler Dressage's Roussea for a 2012 foal. The future continues to look bright with this incredible mare of class and distinction.

Nea Antalya. What a glorious mare! Alabaster/Pik Pube/Furioso II. We are fortunate and proud to have this mare in our breeding program. She has met and exceeded our expectations as a world class producer with successful, quality offspring both in the US and Europe.

This is one of Nea's States Premium daughters by Donnerhall being presented in-hand in Germany. Her name is Nea Dolce Vita. All of Nea's adult daughters have gone on to become States Premium mares.

Another of Nea's excetional daughter's by Donnerhall, Nea's Dan Sante. She is owned by VRDS stables in Belgium where she has had a number of super quality foals for them as well. The latest is a stunning Quarterback. It's very cool to see the generations continue.

Vicky
on our Elite GOV broodmare, Rubicon. (Fall 2010)

And last but certainly not least is our stunning mare Rubicon. Rubi's bloodlines are a collection of "Who's Who" in the Show Jumping world. Acord II, Calypso, Landgraf, and Ramino are all represented. As is often the custom in breeding for dressage horses, we wanted to experiment with crossing Rubi's internationally strong jumping lines to an equally strong dressage sire. Many of the world's best dressage horses have been made this way. We chose Winterprinz who is of course from the famous "W" Hannoverian dressage line. The result was Wrigley, now 2 years old and owned by Nancy Burba, who is exceeding all our expectations already. It is just not possible for a young horse to have a better temperament. And OHH can he move. The perfect package. Because of the overwhelming success of this combination, we are breeding Rubi back to Winterprinz for a 2013 foal.
