And the Gods said “Now that we are done with all this creating, let’s have some fun.” And poof - a mule was born! For the past 10 years our Mule (show name Assassin) fondly called Muli, has been my complete joy and obsession. Even when he is CLEARLY being naughty, he’s fun. Always pleased with his ability to get one over on just about anyone because of course, he’s the smartest guy in the room.

What started as a whim when I decided I “needed” a mule, has turned into the most fun I’ve ever had astride an equid. And just because the whole thing started crazy (bought off a video) didn’t mean it had to stay crazy - but alas, it has. Muli has had himself a BIG time over the years, shaking things up at frou frou Dressage shows, honking his way around a few cross country courses, show jumping, and even giving Western Dressage a try. He’s been ridiculously good at all of it. Traveling with him is like being with a rock star. The line forms to the left for selfies (be careful, he bites) and the demands can be a bit much!!

But the most fun we’ve had together has been when it’s time to dress up and be silly! Particularly in support of our favorite charity - Brooke USA. In fact, I feel it’s the real reason this clown car occupant has come into my life. To bring awareness to the plight of working equines globally and be a part of alleviating suffering, wherever we can. As a board member of Brooke USA, I get the pleasure of combining my two passions: Muli and helping others much less fortunate than he.
